Frequently Asked Questions.
Everything you need to know about SiteSigned.

Have questions about mobile POS, Tap to Pay on phone, Stripe payouts, customer sign-off, or VAT invoicing? Find quick, clear answers below.

1. Can I use SiteSigned as a point-of-sale (POS) system to take payments in person quickly?

Yes! SiteSigned acts as a complete mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) system. With Tap to Pay on your smartphone, you can take in-person contactless card payments in seconds—no bulky card machine, PDQ terminal, or Bluetooth reader required. Your customer simply taps their physical debit/credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) or phone wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay) directly against your phone. You can also display an instant dynamic QR code if preferred.

2. How does Tap to Pay work on my phone without a card machine?

Tap to Pay uses the secure NFC chip built into modern smartphones, powered by Stripe Terminal. You enter the amount or finalize the job, hold out your phone, and the customer taps their contactless card or Apple/Google Pay against the back of your device. The payment settles encrypted and securely via Stripe in seconds, with zero external hardware or card reader cables.

3. How does SiteSigned compare to a traditional card machine or PDQ terminal?

Traditional POS terminals cost £20–£40/month in rental fees or £150+ to buy, require paper receipt rolls, and only take blind payments without capturing proof of delivery. SiteSigned has £0 hardware costs and £0 monthly terminal rental on the Free tier. More importantly, SiteSigned captures customer sign-off and photo proof on-site, providing a legally defensible digital completion certificate and VAT invoice that eliminates chargebacks and disputes.

4. Do I need a separate card reader device to use SiteSigned?

No. SiteSigned is software-based and turns your smartphone into a contactless terminal with Tap to Pay, alongside dynamic on-screen QR codes. You never need to purchase, carry, or charge a separate Bluetooth terminal.

5. How does the customer pay?

Your customer can tap their card or smartphone wallet directly against your phone via Tap to Pay. Alternatively, they can scan the dynamic QR code on your screen with their phone camera to pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or card in their own browser.

6. Does the customer need to install an app?

No. The customer never has to download an app or register an account. With Tap to Pay, it is an instant contactless card tap; with QR or links, the checkout takes under 30 seconds directly in their mobile browser.

7. How and when do funds get paid into my bank account?

Payments are processed through your connected Stripe account and paid out directly into your UK bank account on Stripe's standard rolling payout schedule (usually 2-3 business days).

8. How does SiteSigned protect against non-paying customers or disputes?

Every job generates a tamper-proof digital completion certificate that bundles high-resolution before/after photos, exact GPS location, time stamp, and the customer's on-screen signature. This legally verifiable proof eliminates post-site snagging disputes and non-payment excuses.

9. Can I use SiteSigned if the customer isn't at home when I finish?

Yes. You can upload the job photos and share the payment request link via WhatsApp, SMS, or email. The customer can review the photos and complete payment remotely from anywhere.

10. Is SiteSigned Making Tax Digital (MTD) and VAT compliant?

Yes. SiteSigned automatically generates itemised VAT-compliant invoices with unique sequential numbering and allows one-click CSV export for your accountant and HMRC bookkeeping.

11. Who is behind SiteSigned?

SiteSigned is developed and operated by 10Base Ltd, a registered UK company (Company #14673236). Payment infrastructure is powered by Stripe Connect.
